Your guide to new 2026 Chrysler minivans

Chrysler built its reputation on the minivan - and the 2026 Pacifica lineup proves the brand hasn't forgotten how. If you're shopping for a family vehicle in Calgary, you're looking at a segment where Chrysler still leads. The Pacifica offers three gas-powered trims, three plug-in hybrid variants, and a level of refinement that sets it apart from the competition. Here's what you need to know.

The 2026 Pacifica is available in two distinct powertrain configurations. The gas models - Select, Limited, and Pinnacle - use a 3.6L V-6 engine producing 287 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The plug-in hybrid models - Plug-in Hybrid Select, Limited, and Pinnacle - use the same V-6 paired with a CVT transmission and offer up to 51 km of electric-only range. Both powertrains seat seven and offer the same 3,979 litres of cargo volume behind the first row.

How the Gas and Hybrid Lineups Differ

The gas-powered Pacifica is available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, depending on the trim. The Select starts at $55,695 in FWD and $60,695 in AWD. The Limited starts at $64,695 in FWD and $69,695 in AWD. The Pinnacle is AWD-only and starts at $78,695. All gas models tow up to 3,601 lbs (3,600 lbs (1,633 kg)) - enough for a small trailer or a pair of ATVs.

The plug-in hybrid lineup is FWD-only. The Plug-in Hybrid Select starts at $62,290, the Limited at $71,780, and the Pinnacle at $76,515. The hybrid models use a CVT instead of the 9-speed automatic, and they return 8 L/100 km city and 7.9 L/100 km highway when running on gas. The 51 km of electric range covers typical daily commuting needs - school runs, grocery trips, and errands around Calgary - without burning any fuel.

Fuel economy on the gas models varies by drivetrain. The FWD Select and Limited return 12.4 L/100 km city and 8.4 L/100 km highway. The AWD models - Select AWD, Limited AWD, and Pinnacle AWD - return 14.1 L/100 km city and 9.4 L/100 km highway. The AWD penalty is noticeable, but the added traction is worth it if you're driving in winter conditions or heading into the Rockies.

What Sets the Trims Apart

The Select is the entry point. It includes dual-zone automatic climate control, a power liftgate, heated mirrors, and the Stow 'n Place roof rack system. The FWD Select rides on 17-inch wheels with a touring-tuned suspension. The AWD Select gets 18-inch wheels and a regular suspension tuning. Both versions include Chrysler Connect remote start, which lets you precondition the cabin from your phone - a feature that matters in Calgary winters.

The Limited adds power-folding mirrors with tilt-down functionality, illuminated cupholders, and a full-length floor console. It's the trim where the Pacifica starts to feel more premium than practical. The Limited is available in both FWD and AWD, and both versions ride on 18-inch wheels.

The Pinnacle is the top trim. It's AWD-only and includes 20-inch wheels, a black grille with a metal-look surround, and the highest level of interior refinement in the lineup. If you want the most comfortable, most feature-rich Pacifica, this is it.

The plug-in hybrid trims mirror the gas lineup in terms of features. The Plug-in Hybrid Select includes the same base equipment as the gas Select. The Plug-in Hybrid Limited and Pinnacle add the same upgrades as their gas counterparts. The key difference is the powertrain - and the ability to drive up to 51 km on electricity alone.

Specs That Matter for Families

All Pacifica models seat seven across three rows. Front legroom is 1,045 mm. Second-row legroom is 992 mm. Third-row legroom is 929 mm - tight for adults, but fine for kids or short trips.

Cargo volume is 3,979 litres behind the first row with all seats folded. That's enough for a full camping setup, hockey gear for a team, or a Costco run that gets out of hand. The power liftgate is standard across the lineup, and the Stow 'n Place roof rack system - available on Limited and Pinnacle trims - folds flush when you're not using it.

The Pacifica's wheelbase is 3,089 mm, which contributes to a smooth, planted ride on the highway. The turning radius is 6 metres, which makes parking easier than you'd expect for a vehicle this size. The strut front suspension and trailing arm rear suspension are tuned for comfort, not sport - this is a minivan, and it drives like one.

The Pacifica Still Leads the Segment

Chrysler invented the modern minivan, and the 2026 Pacifica shows why the brand still owns the category. The gas models offer the flexibility of AWD and the towing capacity to handle weekend gear. The plug-in hybrid models offer electric-only commuting and lower fuel costs without sacrificing space or features. If you're shopping for a family vehicle in Calgary, the Pacifica lineup gives you options that fit how you actually drive.
